PRE-LICENSING FOR RESIDENTIAL LEASING AGENT

A real estate career can begin with a leasing agent license. In Illinois, you must obtain a license in order to work as a residential leasing agent, which is an employee of a real estate broker and engages in licensing activities limited to leasing residential real estate.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

  • +18 years old
  • High school or GED graduate
  • Be of good moral character

STEPS TO BEGIN

  1. Successfully complete the 15 Hour Pre-licensing course.
  2. Pass the state exam with AMP.
  3. Apply for licensure with IDFPR.

Regardless of which format you choose, the content includes: provisions of the Illinois Real Estate License Act 2000 applicable to residential leasing agents, fair housing issues relating to residential leasing, advertising and marketing issues, leases, applications and credit reports, owner-tenant relationships and owner-tenant laws, the handling of funds, and environmental issues relating to residential real property.
